Hayley + Scott, The Old Kent Barn

One of the best things about planning a wedding with someone, is that in more cases than not, you develop a friendship with the couple - and that is definitely the case of Hayley and Scott. It feels like a lifetime ago that I received a message from Hayley asking if was available for her wedding date.

For anyone that knows me, they will know that Disney holds a STRONG place in my heart (and I have the tattoos to prove it), so when Hayley mentioned her theme was loosely based on Beauty and the Beast, well, that was me sold. Beauty and the Beast meant a classic red rose themed wedding, which was quite refreshing to design as it isn't very often we get asked to design with red flowers!

It was also very exciting to be working at The Old Kent Barn for the first time as I'd heard such amazing things about this venue, and they absolutely did not disappoint. Months have passed now since Hayley and Scott's June wedding, and we are now VERY proud to say we are a recommended supplier for The Old Kent Barn, and are really excited to flower many more weddings there over the coming seasons!

Anyway, enough trumpet blowing and back to these beauties. As it was a glorious late June day, with the weather to prove it, Hayley and Scott got married outside underneath TOKB's gorgeous white pergola, which we dressed with ivy and roses to give it that overgrown fairytale feel.

Also being a summer wedding, that obviously meant we had to use peonies! Although finding red ones was a bit more challenging, we managed to come across some incredible rich burgundy ones, combine with insane smelling naomi roses, dahlia and some little white phlox, along with ALL of the ivy and foliages, Hayley's bouquet became one of my favourites this year. And those with sharp eyesight might just be able. to spot the hidden Mickey's!

After the ceremony, moving into the bright, vast barn, we decorated the tables with tall centrepieces sat on top of glass conical vases, with a little bit of foliage inside to continue the overgrown theme. The flowers themselves replicated Hayley's bouquet with large soft and romantic flowers like those peonies and a mix of red and white roses.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Hayley and Scott, as well as The Old Kent Barn for such a beautiful day, congratulations Mr + Mrs Holding!

Take a look at the rest of their big day in the gallery below. Thank you to Steve Barber Photography for sharing the images with us!
